Andrew Gilbert Mills (アンドリュー・ギルバート・ミルズ,Andoryū Girubāto Miruzu?), known as Agil (エギル,Egiru?) in Sword Art Online (SAO), ALfheim Online (ALO), and Project Alicization, is a supporting character in the Aincrad Arc and a reoccurring character throughout the Sword Art Online series. He was one of the 10,000 players who were trapped in «Sword Art Online» (SAO), where he was a veteran axe-wielder and a merchant who owned a shop in Algade, a city on the 50th Floor of «Aincrad». After returning to the real world in the aftermath of the Sword Art Online incident, Andrew began playing ALfheim Online (ALO) as a Gnome. In real life, Andrew manages the «Dicey Café» with the help of his wife.
Andrew is a massive and bulky[6] African-American[7] man with a brown goatee and brown eyes.[6] He is bald and wears two silver earrings on his left ear in both Sword Art Online and the real world.[8] At the beginning of the Sword Art Online official service, Agil wore a breastplate over a sleeveless shirt, light brown pants, and fur boots.[6] By the end of the Sword Art Online Incident, he wore jungle green robes and gray armor while in combat.[9] In the real world, Andrew wears a white shirt and a dark gray apron over pants of the same color.[8] Kirigaya Kazuto also commented that he is as large in real life as he is in-game.[10]
ALfheim Online[]
In ALfheim Online, Agil's appearance is similar to his Sword Art Online avatar, except his robes are dark moss green.[11]
Personality[]
Agil is a very friendly and helpful person who is always looking out for others. He is also trustworthy and reliable, shown when he defended the beta testers against Kibaou, gave Kirito a place to stay, and helped players on lower floors. He also can be a leader on the battlefield and will help his comrades and friends no matter the cost. Although Agil acted as though he only cared about making money, Kirito commented that he had spent all of his helping mid-level players level up.
Background[]
Although African-American by ethnicity, Andrew's parents loved Japan[7] and had him in Ueno, Tokyo.[12] He opened his coffee shop-bar in Okachimachi at the age of twenty-five.[7] Among his customers was a woman named Trish[2], who was a foreigner living nearby. She had many of the same interests as Andrew, and they eventually got married.[12] Afterwards, Andrew became trapped in SAO for two years. When he returned, he was surprised to find the shop had been saved and maintained by his wife contrary to his expectations.[7]
Agil was first seen defending the beta testers from Kibaou, who was saying that they were the cause of the two-thousand deaths. He showed Kibaou «Argo's Strategy Guide: First Floor Boss edition» and said that not all of the beta testers were to blame, as some of them gave out free information which could be obtained for free in any non-player shop. In the boss fight, he and his party helped Kirito and Asuna beat the boss.
He also showed capable leadership during the fight, being able to safely lead his party without any casualties.
On December 15, 2022, at five o'clock, Agil and his friends participated in the first strategy meeting for the 3rd Floor. Hearing that Lind was forbidding Kirito and Asuna from joining the same guild, Agil expressed exasperation. When Lind shifted his focus to Agil's group, inquiring about their intentions of joining either of the two main guilds, all four of them declined, as they seemingly desired to create a guild of their own.

October, 2024[]
In October 2024, Agil was visited by Kirito with a piece of Ragout Rabbit's Meat that the boy wanted to sell to the merchant.
November, 2024[]
Agil later closed his shop and came to the 75th Floor's boss battle to aid in the boss fight. Prior to Kirito's rematch with Heathcliff, Kirito thanked Agil for always helping and supporting the mid-level players of the game in order to reach the front lines. After Sword Art Online was cleared, the man was logged out of the game along with the other 6,146 surviving players.
To Andrew's surprised relief, he found Trish had been able to keep the Dicey Cafe from closing during his two years of absence. Having resumed his management of the shop, the man was contacted by Kirigaya Kazuto (Kirito) on December 20, 2024, during which they exchanged email addresses.
Sometime in January 2025, Andrew discovered a screenshot taken inside ALfheim Online showing a girl resembling Asuna trapped in a cage. As Yuuki Asuna (Asuna) and 300 other players had not regained consciousness even after the completion of SAO, he sent a copy of the image to Kazuto on the morning of January 20. When the boy arrived at the Dicey Cafe that same day demanding more information, the man briefly explained the mechanics of ALO and how the screenshot had been taken in-game at the World Tree. Having given Kazuto a physical copy of the game so he could investigate, Andrew exhorted him to rescue Asuna if the girl really was her, so they could finally put an end to the Sword Art Online Incident.
Although he did not play ALfheim Online during the few days during which Kirito saved Asuna, he played ALO later as a Gnome axe-wielder. He even played with Kirigaya Suguha, Kazuto's sister. Andrew's cafe was also used for the celebration of completing SAO and the rescue of Asuna. Many remaining SAO players came to the celebration, including the Aincrad Liberation Force's (The Army) leader, Thinker, as well as his wife, Yulier.
