Coper (コペル, Koperu?) was one of the original 1,000 beta testers for the VRMMORPG Sword Art Online.
Chronology

First Day (Aincrad 1st Floor, November 2022)
He meets Kirito in the woods west of Horunka Village, congratulating Kirito for leveling up. Shortly after, Kirito realizes that Coper was also an original Beta tester. After learning that both of them need to get a Little Nepent's Ovule for a quest in Horunka Village, he proposes that the two of them work together until both of them acquire one of said item, to which Kirito accepts.
However, after Kirito manages to acquire a Little Nepent's Ovule, Coper decides to Player Killing Kirito by attracting a mob of Nepents to their location and using his «Hiding» skill. Kirito points out that the skill is ineffective against monsters that don't rely on sight, such as Nepents, as the mob of enemies assault them both. Overwhelmed by a dozen Nepents, Coper manages to slay five of them before meeting his end.
