The «Dragon Bone Axe» (竜骨の斧, Ryūkotsu no Ono?) is a tool that is carved out of an ancient dragon's bone in Underworld. As an ancient dragon's bone is the highest grade material for weapons available in Underworld, the hardness of the axe is only surpassed by Divine Instrument-class weapons. The villagers of Rulid Village ordered this axe from the capital 300 years before Kirito's first dive into the world in order to have a tool to cut down the «Gigas Cedar», as the blades of normal axes would break and be no longer usable after the first hit on the tree. The axe has a toughness that surpasses iron, allowing it to be used in chopping the equally tough tree. Generation after generation, some villagers would be assigned to cut down the tree using the axe, with Eugeo and Kirito being the last ones to be assigned this Sacred Task.
