ANNOUNCEMENT: Hey guys look at what I did at Recon's page (here and here). At first, I was thinking of just leaving the main page named as Recon but I decided to create a new page named after the real life character, Nagata Shinichi and make it the main page instead with a link to the Recon page at the tabs. The Recon page consists of his appearance, abilities and the chronology during his time playing ALO.

Hello. I know that there is a high chance that you would dismiss this idea but I think that we should redesign the character pages. The character pages are inconsistent in terms of naming. Some are named after their character in the game (Kirito, Asuna) while others are named after their real name (Suguha, Kyouji). Another thing is that they are (forgive the term) messy. The information there needs organizing. Most are even incomplete. So that is why I'm proposing an idea that might help make things more organized. This is what I'm thinking:

  • I've created a tab template and I suggest that we use it in the character pages. The first tab would contain their name, information about them in real life and the Chronology section (the things that they did, events they were a part of). The next tabs would be the VRMMORPGs that they played, each showing their character, that character's abilities, guild, party, etc. (All the things related in game). Visit these pages: Here and here to see what I'm saying.
  • We should make a policy concerning the sections of the pages that states the correct order of the sections. Something like this:
'''Recon''' is a Sylph and a friend of Lyfa.

Write the appearance of the character here.

Write the personality of the character here.

Write the events here.

Write the character's abilities here.

==Trivia (if any)==
Write some trivia about the character here.

==References (if any)==

==Navigation (if any)==
I don't think this wiki has this, but I'm willing to create some if you'd like :3
  • Let's rename the character pages to reflect their name in real life or their name in game, whichever you guys prefer. We just need them to be consistent.

I know that this idea may be turned down since there are many characters but this idea only applies to those whose real name had been revealed and who are playing multiple games. I think that if we do this, we can help make this wiki better and maybe attract new users. I'm willing to help with this idea. (Also, I think the infobox needs redesigning as well but that's for another day) Ziggy 04:16, December 29, 2012 (UTC)

Final Decision

Just put Yea or Nay with Signature do decide if you wanna got through with this. I the spirit of democracy if 10 registered users agree to this then we will go through with this as the new character page layout. If 10 opposed the decision is rejected. If the quota isn't met or there is a tie, decision falls on my discretion. Any complaints will be filed afterwards.Dim1 (talk) 20:26, January 5, 2013 (UTC)

Well it is my belief that a majority of the format should remain the same, as you have it up there, as for the navigation that is something that should be taken up with Hao-sama when he returns. I personally would like to see something like that but the better question is how you design the navigation? I mean the characters don't have an official affiliation, and to design one for each character seems time consuming, and I ask if you are prepared to create one for the 60+ character pages we have. I only saying this as a matter of logistics. If you are set on the idea, then I'll help in formulation and execution of them. Just give me a full proposal on that, I'm willing to request the formation of a brigade of contributors to follow through just have something concrete.Dim1 (talk) 06:47, December 29, 2012 (UTC)

So are you okay with my tab idea? As for the navigation, here's what I have in mind. (1) According to guild in SAO and ALO; (2) Solo Players in SAO? or Clearing Players; (3) According to race in ALO; (4) Those who participated in the BOBs of GGO. And... I haven't read the Alicization arc yet... I'll do a sample later... Ziggy 07:01, December 29, 2012 (UTC)
Nice idea, btw the pages look good, I can help you modify the character pages, I have no problem with it, but for the tabs, you can do one for the real life, and one for each game or arc.KDTV (talk) 12:10, December 29, 2012 (UTC)

May I ask for what exactly this tab will do? If merely just for navigating, we already have "contents" part in each page to do that. 06:56, December 29, 2012 (UTC). Pardon me, I'm using a public wireless before. It's me Ethrundr (talk) 15:48, December 29, 2012 (UTC)

It's a link to another page. Some of the information are to be transferred to a new page so that the main page wouldn't look too crowded. Ziggy 07:01, December 29, 2012 (UTC)
If you do redirects, I object. Please consider about other's capability of connection before do such things. But if it's just to rearrange the page without redirects, somehow I can still tolerate. I may have told this somewhere before, but I'll say it again. Redirecting will take more time and bandwidth of someone who access the page. Since this page in the complete version (web version) is quite big to be loaded once, to force people do the loading step twice, which happens in redirect, just "unfriendly". Please keep in mind that some people uses Internet connection with quota-based connection, not unlimited one and some of them are probably loading this page from public places, which the speed can't be high enough to do such command quick.
But, as KDTV said above, if you do this tabbing on page which have tons of information, such as episode list, timeline or arcs, I don't have any other option than agree, since those page are usually overcrowded with informations. Ethrundr (talk) 15:54, December 29, 2012 (UTC)
I'm not sure anyone has a clear idea of what you want, but if you come out with an example or prototype, I think your intentions and any solid pros and cons will become clear. Well that is my take on the feedback so far, I'd rather not cut an unformed idea in the bud, if it improves the wiki by adding a new feature, but if it seems troublesome or unnecessary then I will go against it. Oh, and when you guys make forum pages link it to the index, or ask me to. Its mostly just cut and paste work, but if you run into problems I'll help however I can. Dim1 (talk) 18:36, December 29, 2012 (UTC)
Well the page Ziggy has made is quite fulfill what I explained on my idea. I've tried to load it with low-speed connection and it's still friendly (with this, I mean the page load time). Overall, I'm satisfied with the appearance, and vote one "YES" for whole make-ups. Ethrundr (talk) 05:01, January 3, 2013 (UTC)

First of All, Happy New Year, I saw the pages, and I think that method can solve our naming problems also, since it'll connect to the caracter page, and will allow to have a like with the information of his real live or other game avatars.KDTV (talk) 12:17, January 1, 2013 (UTC)

I just see the page and this is my comment:

First, about the character tab

  • In the character that appears both in real and virtual (in this example: Nagata Shinichi and Recon), their both names are already appeared at the top of the article. Therefore, on the character tab, the field "User" should be omitted. Reason is, it's already obvious by the appearance of the tabs above. It'll just make possible inconsistencies in future if we keep that field.
  • For the players that only known in virtual, the field "User" are also not being used, since we don't know their real person. So this field rather wasted here.

From both point, implementation of this tabbing system might required small alteration on existing template about character, simply to prevent inconsitency possibilities in future. Most of this inconsistency might be on naming (spelling).

Next, my comment about the real person tab.

  • The layout should be the same with the originally made in this wikia, since it's just somehow useless to put it the way like this: Name, Kanji Name then Romaji name. Either the name or romaji name should be omitted if this layout want to be used, but for the sake of good reading, I suggest to omit the "Romaji Name" part, since all names available are already in Romaji. Reason is, it's simply repetation of information and it's useless.

That's all my opinion, and I know this will bring lot of pros and cons. Ethrundr (talk) 15:50, January 1, 2013 (UTC)

The reason for the user section in the infoboxes is because some avatars have been used by multiple people (like Erika)... Ziggy 00:57, January 2, 2013 (UTC)
In my opinion, as long as the user is single-person, we should not include it in the infobox. Just for those with multiple-user will have that field. Ethrundr (talk) 04:58, January 3, 2013 (UTC)
