Godfree (ゴドフリー, Godofurī^?) was one of the 10,000 players who got trapped in the death game, «Sword Art Online». He was an easy going character and the Commander of the Vanguard of the «Knights of the Blood».

Appearance

Godfree was a huge man with thick blond curls and, according to Kirito, he looked like an axe wielder. He wore a white and red KoB uniform with a white cape, a metal chestplate, metal shoulderplates and bracers and brown, leather gauntlets.

Personality

Godfree was an easy going person and a person who disliked conflicts among comrades, such as when he brought Kuradeel and Kirito together in his party just for them to bury the hatchet. However, Godfree is also a kind of person who is slow to understand the situation at hand, like when he thought that Kuradeel's treachery was some form of training excercise. He loves to train a lot in order to get stronger, thus his expression to Kuradeel and Kirito when Kirito had recently joined Knights of the Blood Oath after he was defeated in a duel with Kayaba Akihiko.

Chronology

Aincrad Arc

After Kirito joined KoB, Godfree took it upon himself to test the capabilities of the new recruit by going on a training mission with him and 2 other members to go through the dungeon of the 55^th Floor all the way up to the living area of the 56th floor. At the meeting place, he introduced one of the party members, Kuradeel to Kirito, knowing that the two had a fight and wanting them to bury the hatchet. Before marching out, he took the crystals of all members to make the training as realistic as possible. Kirito speculates that Godfree had focused on improving his strength stat alone, neglecting dexterity, which is why he rejected running all the way to the dungeon. He ordered having a break right before entering the dungeon and passed on the food and water portions to all the members of the party. But unknown to him, Kuradeel had poisoned their water supply. Having drunk the poisoned water, everyone aside from Kuradeel became paralyzed. Godfree attempted to use an antidote crystal, under the advice of Kirito, but was stopped by Kuradeel kicking the crystal out of his hand. Godfree was subsequently killed by Kuradeel, while still not knowing what was going on even as his body shattered into polygons.
