  • Good day to you, I was wondering if you could clear up some doubts of mine. I was talking about SAO with someone and he says that Reki Kawahara will kill off Asuna and some other main characters at the end of SAO. He also says that Kazuto and Liz would end up together in the end and create a game in Accel world. I know it all sounds absurd, but that person claims to have gotten all his info from something Reki said in a panel. Please help me to clear my doubts. Thanks.

    • All I can say is that your friend has quite the headcanon. Nothing of the sort was stated anywhere, unless as part of some joke.

    • Phew, thanks a bunch man. I don't read the light novels much, so I don't know a ton of things that the anime skipped over. That's why I usually tend to believe people who have read the light novels so that I can understand the gaps in plot of the anime. But it's unfortunate that I met a troll who messed with my mind :( now I know the truth and my doubts are cleared. Thanks!

  • Greetings, I'm an admin for the Gate Wiki, wonder is there any chance we can affiliate with each other? Looking forward to your response. Thanks in advance.

      Loading editor
    • Hello. Our wiki accepts affiliation requests from wikis that meet at least one of the following criteria:

      • The series is created by the same author (Kawahara Reki, Sigsawa Keiichi, Watase Souichirou)
      • The story of the series has games as its main focus.
      • Both wikis have common editors (at least 3 or 33% of the editor base must be regulars on both wikis)
      • The series is officially cooperating/has officially cooperated with the Sword Art Online series.

Does your wiki meet any one of these criteria?

        Loading editor
    • We can't say game is the main focus, however it is more of their setting/worlds that do share alot of similarities. While Gate isn't set in a virtual world, the fantasy theme is one of the most prominent features of the show. In addition that both series were also produced by the same studio: A-1 Pictures, if that counts as being indirect cooperation. Thanks.

  • I just got my hands on the Yen Press release of Alicization Lasting. The page count is actually closer to 290 or 300 as opposed to their listing of 208. How should I format the reference for this when I update the count on the novels page?

  • Have you seen the anime if you did how many seasons are there I've seen 3 and need to know if there is more

    • Hello, currently this is how SAO anime looks like:

SAO season 1 (adapting light novel vols 1-4)

Extra Edition (an OVA episode being mostly a recap + one original short story)

SAO season 2 (adapting light novel vols 5-8)

Ordinal Scale (original movie, being incorporated into light novel canon, takes place after season 2)

SAO season 3: Alicization (Cour 1 and Cour 2, adapting light novel vols 9-14)

SAO season 3 Alicization: War of Underworld (Cour 3 - adapting light novel vols 15,16, and probably a part of 17), this is the current anime

SAO season 3 Alicization War of Underworld (Cour 4, will be airing on Spring 2020 and will adapt the rest of vol 17 and entire vol 18 of light novel)

  • Good day,

I am sorry for the late reply. About Amayori's mother name, it was mentioned in the newly released game named Sword Art Online Alicization Rising Steel in the event called "Rose Knight Garden" focusing on Eldrie's story, there was the scene where just like in the novel Eldrie found Alice crying the death of a dragon, since the novel spoke of a similar scene with Alice crying for the deceased mother of Amayori and Takiguri, I concluded it to be so. The name she uttered was "Yukikari".

Here is the link if you wish to see :

    • All SAO console and mobile games are considered non-canon. As such, any information gained from them is considered non-canon - or at least of questionable reliability - as well, unless some canon source corroborates it. So, I cannot allow "Yukikari" to be listed on the infobox at the present moment.

    • I see now! I didn't knew about it up until now, I'm really sorry for my misunderstanding. Thank you very much for explaining this to me! I'll try to be more careful about it from now on!

  • Cause I know this wika always goes by the fan translations and not Yen Press’s translations so I was wondering which one is the official name.

      Loading editor
    • I'll have to correct you on that. The wiki doesn't blindly follow whatever Yen Press comes up with, seeing as they have ignored actual official spellings on numerous occasions. However, neither do we just go with whatever fan translations came up with, especially when their variants don't really make sense (e.g., we have changed Schuberg to Zuberg, since the former was misleading pronunciation-wise).

Naming on the wiki is decided through community discussions. In the case of Renly, we decided to go with the Yen Press version, as the fan translation had multiple variants anyway (multiple translators came up with their own versions), so going with Yen Press was an easier way to resolve the issue.

  • You recently undid my addition 2 to pages where I added photos of them because you said it was a guideline breach. What was breached and where are the guidelines so I can see them and prevent doing it again?

      Loading editor
    • Hello, I will allow myself to reply to your question.

As your edits were uploads of images, you can find the image guideline here!

Basically, your pictures weren't in a 16:9 ratio, they did not have any category and you have not tagged them as licensed.

  • Hello Gsimenas,

I'm Lucas and I'm a member of the Fandom Anime Content Team. Basically, it's our job to act as a resource for anime focused wikis and help them grow. The SAO wiki is in great shape and I'm just getting in touch to see if my team and I can help with any ongoing projects in the community; especially with the recent release of the latest season of the anime.

Thansk for your time and, if you have any questions, feel free to reach out and I'll get in touch as soon as I'm able.

    Sincerely,

    • Thanks for the offer, but we're not so much an anime wiki as we are a novel wiki. While we do cover the anime's content, most of our content comes from the novel or various side stories by the author. So, I'm not really sure how your team could help us... especially since I am personally unaware of what exactly your team does. We get our news directly from Japanese sources, seeing as we have people who can translate Japanese, and we have someone working on video content for the wiki; I can't think of anything else your team would be helping with.

Edit: One thing we could use help with is figuring out how to embed a Google calendar on the wiki. We manage an event calendar for the series, but since verbatim was taken down, I haven't been able to find a way to embed a calendar on the wiki.

        Loading editor
    • My team and I would be happy to help with that embed.

Basically the Fandom Anime Team just acts as a resource for wikis tied to anime, like the Fate/Grand Order wiki, Chainsaw Man wiki, and My Hero Academia wiki. We help out with ongoing projects, clarify any questions you might have about Fandom's actions or policies, and help prep wikis for upcoming events tied to their series.

If you have any other questions or have anything else that you'd like a hand with, feel free to let me know.

    • If I may chime in, as Gsimenas stated, since we receive our news straight from Japanese sources and translate them ourselves, it is quite hard to come up with possible requests, not knowing the scope of your operations. We tend to assume it's most probably western networking, which more often than not, does not even receive the news we receive from Japan and bring over to the west in a worst case scenario, whereas the most common scenario is that the western departments receive news a couple weeks after we already shared them from Japanese sources. It is incredibly rare that western publishers are "on time" with their material and even if that ends up being the case, it's still slower than us following Japanese sources, because when things get announced in Japan, more often than not it's US Midnight, so nothing is shared from there until they wake up hours later.

So, it would be really helpful to hear about the scope of the Fandom Anime Team and their operations. Does the Anime Team strictly focus on "Anime" or it has a wider reach akin to "Anime related content" for example? Could we, for example, assume the Anime Team can help us with receiving SAO Light Novel or SAO Magazine once they are released in Japan? Could we assume the Anime Team can help us with SAO Games by Bandai Namco, allowing us to have maybe opportunities to visit one of their nearby studios (for example, Bandai Namco Germany and Bandai Namco Italy HQ's are in close proximity to where I live) to get exclusive gameplay footage or an actual first hand experience to share bits of rare info? Or is the Anime Team really limited to Anime content with contacts at the likes of Aniplex USA, in which case, we are already far superior in our news operations than they are with their internal information flows.

Edit: I got ninja'd T.T Still, in regards to possibilities, I'd say questions I provided are open for answers.

    • Hey Gsimeans and Kaantantr,

I talked to the webmaster side of our team and it doesn't look like there's any way to embed a Google Calender onto a wiki at this time. Appologies for the inconvenience.

As for the scope of the Fandom Anime Team, we primarily create and improve content on wikis related to anime. This does regulerly include series like SAO, which started out as a Light Novel, saw a manga and anime adaptation, and has since branched out into other mediums. Usually our efforts focus on expanding the content found on a given wiki (ie. adding episode summaries or filling in character information) and making a wiki easier to navigate (ie. adding interlinks, reformatting pages, and clearing out duplicate pages). All of this ties into our end goal of raising a wiki's viewership and total users.

While we are pursuing partnerships with numerous companies based in Japan, we cannot offer the wiki early press information about SAO right now. What we can do, though, is help expand the wiki, act as a moderation and support resource if any issues come up, and give you a point of contact if you have any questions about Fandom's future actions.
