  • Good morning Gsimenas,

I'm the founder and admin of the Infinite Dendrogram Wikia, which I started last year. In light of the fact that an anime is quite possibly on the horizon for the series, I was hoping to discuss the possibility of the Infinite Dendrogram Wikia becoming an affiliate of the Sword Art Online Wikia.

      Loading editor
    • Hi there, I'm another admin of this wiki, and thought I'd bring up a couple concerns of mind with the Dendrogram wiki.

      • There's not really enough editors for others to benefit from affiliation with your wiki. Generally the point of an affiliation of this kind is to benefit both parties, hopefully with viewers or editors flowing to and fro. I'd encourage you to maybe advertise your presence on related fan communities, like reddit and discord communities associated with Dendrogram, or even the J-Novel forums. However, growth may be impeded by my second concern and thats...
      • Spoilers. Lots of unmarked spoilers from the web novel. I'm (nearly) up to date with JNC's translations of the Light Novel, and was blindsided by a spoiler I wasn't expecting to see. This is likely to scare off new editors who aren't willing to spoil themselves beyond the contents of the LN. You may want to find a way to accomodate these editors, hopefully by marking articles with spoilers, or using templates to hide this information from those that don't wish to see it. The SAO wiki imploys a combination of these standards, marking articles with spoilers that aren't covered in the anime, and further hiding information from the web novel.
      • You may also want to get someone who knows how to design things. Because let me tell you, Dark Blue text on Dark Purple backgrounds? That's eye-cancer. Please fix your infoboxes before I go blind.

    • Good afternoon TUSF

      1. We've recently gotten some new editors and are anticipating the arrival of some others due to networking with some communities on Discord.

      2. That's also been highlighted to me, and we're discussing ways to remedy the issue, such as a template to hide pages with spoilers on them.

      3. Another issue that was highlighted to me. I was attempting to make the infoboxes match the logo, but I'll work on adjusting them ASAP.

I hope that my petition to become an affiliate of the Sword Art Online Wikia is met with the favourable response of not only you, but the other admins here.

        Loading editor
    • Hi. I shared your post with the other admins a few hours ago, but TUSF was the only one who responded so far. I wanted discuss the matter with them before responding so that I could get straight to the point, but since I haven't heard from the other admins yet while TUSF decided to respond to you personally, I guess I should share my own two cents so you wouldn't get the impression that I'm ignoring you while we wait for the others.

As I see it, you wiki does meet our minimal requirements for consideration for an affiliation, since the series also has a VR game theme going on. That's enough for us to consider the prospects of an affiliation. My only concern, however, is whether your community is actually active enough for an affiliation to be mutually beneficial, as TUSF has already pointed out. Your wiki does seem to have other editors and it looks somewhat developed, so your standing is better than quite a few other wikis that have sought affiliation with us. But it doesn't seem like your community is that big or active (and as TUSF has already mentioned, there are concerns whether it'll grow in the nearby future). Thus, I am a bit conflicted about whether to agree to an affiliation at the current moment or not. For now, I'll probably wait for the opinions of the other admins and get back to you then.

    • Thank you for you response Gsimenas,

Concerning some of the issues TUSF brought up, I've made changes to most of the infoboxes today to a more sobering colour scheme.

I am awaiting your consideration and hope for a favourable response.

  • Hi, since we are adding both Alice S30 and Zuberg in the same infobox for Alice’s page do you think the same for Eugeo even if he has been a Integrity Knight for a short time.

      Loading editor
    • If Eugeo has ever been referred to as such in the novel, then I guess we should. I just didn't have the time to double check this as I'm in exam hell until next week.

Anyway, I disagree with the fact the administrator is "extremely beautiful", the administrator was a very old lady in the past (old lady = not beautiful). I still remember it and it gets on my nerves.

"very beautiful" is very appropriate for me. Or "charmingly beautiful" is also very nice.

Since you undid my change, I leave my message here as a consideration. Granted, I agree with whatever you will say.

    • The edit (https://swordartonline.wikia.com/wiki/Quinella?diff=160665&oldid=160656) was rolled back because, for whatever reason, you started censoring random words that contained the letters "a" and "ss" in a row. Such as "class" or "assuming". Due to such inexplicable behaviour, the edit was regarded as vandalism and handled as such.

As for the change in description, your argument that she "was a very old lady in the past" holds no ground at all. In an appearance section, you describe what the character looks like at a specific moment in time. If you're describing the period when she was old, then you describe her as old and not beautiful. However, the text was describing what she looked like after she became young again, so her having looked old is now completely irrelevant. If the characters in the story described her as "extremely beautiful", then so be it. Beauty is a subjective quality and thus it should only be described as is in the story itself to avoid reader bias. The only valid reason for changing the description would be if someone confirmed that Quinella was not described as such in the story itself. Anything else would likely be based on personal bias, which would be counter-productive for the wiki.

    • I am AnimeOfSpace.

I withdraw and you can choose "extremely" because it is the exact word you need.

I am using the Advanced Profanity Filter tool, which automatically censors potentially suspicious profanity words but a small number of legitimate English words are affected (class, assassin, massive, etc)

Thank you very much for making me realize this new issue. The vandalism is unintentional, I apologize for the vandalism I have caused nevertheless.

The tool may cause a problematic issue if I contribute on a website but forget to disable it first briefly. I have been using it to protect my moral life after all. I conclude I lost my contribution, therefore a rollback is precise.

  • Hi. Since the alicization arc has been officially animated, can I remove the spoiler tabs from the pages relating to it that state "this is about plotlines not covered in the anime?"

Since their technically unnecessary now that its been animated and they have already mentioned and shown the different items, characters and terminology.

    • If EVERYTHING on the page has been covered by the anime, sure. If the article still contains some stuff from later volumes, leave the warning in place.

  • Look. I know what I post doesn't seem good. When I post, I am at school and I can't finish what I am writing or I have my dad standing over me all the time. If you dont like something then let me know on my message wall before you delete something. I will read it over and look at the things I edited again and if I dont like it them I will either edit or delete it then let you know. Look, I am trying to make a difference to the wiki. I know a lot about SAO. I get it. Even if the do a Beta Testing for SAO in the real world, then I could appy for it. Until then, I am trying my best to help. If you dont like it, well, Im sorry.

    • Thought I'd chime in. You may have all the information in the world, but if you don't contribute to the Wiki in a manner that does not fit our guidelines, that knowledge, from the perspective of the Wiki, is useless.

We aim to provide information that is accurate and that does not derive from personal interpretations of instances. We have strict guidelines as to how the articles should be written in like (usage of in-game vs real names, perspective of the narration on pages etc), and on top of all, they should be more or less intelligible so our reviewers can review, understand and correct them.

If you don't have the time to ensure you write in grammatically correct English sentences or that you meet the standards, you should first work on a personal Word data where you first master the content you are aiming to provide and only then share it on the Wikia, after you have corrected the language and the information, per our guidelines.

    • I understand that I need to use proper grammar. However, there are times where I'm free, but I'm restricted to a limit to where sometimes I can't do anything on the wiki. I can see where you're coming from but you have to understand, I don't have all the time in the world to work on somethings'. (I know. I have been tired for the last few days so if my grammar is incorrect, I'm sorry) Kaantantr

  • just want to say i really appreciate the work you do for the wiki. also could you please fill in the summaries for volume 18? last time i checked it wasn't done

      Loading editor
    • I'm glad you enjoy the work we put into the wiki. However, we lack the manpower to have decent summaries for everything. Unfortunately, none of our regular editors has shown interest in working on volume 18's summary, and I personally am too swamped to work on it myself.

  • Hey, there. Just figured I would drop you a line and ask a question or two, as respectfully as I can, if that's alright, so as to avoid any further conflicts like the ones on the page for LN #9.

I've only ever worked on the wiki for Avatar: The Last Airbender, so my experience with the guidelines on other wikia networks is limited. I found your wiki a couple months ago and figured I'd try my hand at rewording the page a bit last night. On the Avatar Wiki, most editing of real-world materials (summaries of episodes and GNs) were, and are, written in the present tense. It's possible that policies on tense vary from wiki to wiki, but I honestly wouldn't know if it does or not.

I apologize if I unknowingly violated your wiki's policies on verb tense. Is there a page I could refer to for more general guidelines like that? Trying my hand at another and forcing you to undo the edit again is just time wasted for both of us.

    Sorry again for the screw-up.

    • If the amount I uploaded en masse for Part 4 was too much, I can add future summaries, crappily written though they may be, in smaller chunks if that works better for you. Pretty sure I'm not trying to kill you. Sorry if it came across that way.

        Loading editor
    • "En masse" edits are bound to annoy me. Especially when you decide to do them during my exam period AND they're a frequent occurrence. I'm already low on time as is due to Uni and thus have trouble keeping up with all the edits on the wiki when multiple people are posting major edits daily. That's why people either to choose make bulk edits once in a while, or smaller edits but daily, since very few people on this wiki can review edits to ensure quality. We already have examples of what happens when people continue to do massive edits when no one is available to review them - massive walls of text with a lot of irrelevant details and poor flow. That's why I get mad when people start making massive edits without waiting for their stuff to get reviewed. It ends up in eternal procrastination hell as no one gets around to review walls of text when they get too big.

So, if you want to make daily edits, please slow down your pace or I won't be able to keep up with you during my exams. I've already had to resort to just leaving notes rather than fixing all your issues myself just to keep up with you, since I could take an hour per paragraph when I try to fix all the issues myself. That's very time consuming, especially when you edit daily AND decide to make gigantic walls of text while you're at it. So, focus on the quality rather than the quantity. That way, my reviews will be faster and you'll be able to progress faster.
