The «Monument of Swordsmen» (剣士の碑, Kenshi no Ishibumi?) is a large stone tablet on the 1st Floor of «New Aincrad» in the «Black Iron Palace». On it are the names of players who helped to clear each Floor Boss. When a raid group (more than just one party) kills the boss, only the names of the leaders of each party have their name embedded into the stone. However, if a single party was to take on the challenge and prove successful, each party member would have their name engraved in the stone. Only 7 names at most can be engraved on the stone for each level.
Chronology
Mother's Rosario
This monument is introduced when Yuuki and the «Sleeping Knights» desperately want to leave their names on the monument so that everyone would know that they had once existed. Asuna plays a major role in helping the group achieve their goal by helping them strategy-wise and support-wise in their battle against the 27th Floor Boss. After defeating the boss, the names of the Sleeping Knights members and Asuna are added to the list of clearers of the 27th Floor. Later, Kirito's and Yuuki's, as well as the leaders of several other parties, names are added to the clearers of the 28th Floor. The names of the Sleeping Knights and Asuna are again added to the list after defeating the boss of the 29th Floor on their own.
