Ronye Arabel (ロニエ・アラベル, Ronie Araberu?) is a supporting character in the Alicization Arc. She was a low-ranking noble that attended the Sword Mastery Academy in North Centoria in Underworld, where she was appointed as Kirito's valet as one of the twelve top-ranking students of her year. Along with her friend Tiese Shtolienen, Ronye was incited by higher-ranked nobles Raios Antinous and Humbert Zizek to lose her composure with them, allowing the two men to use loopholes in the rules overseeing the conduct of nobles to molest them. After this resulted in their seniors, Eugeo and Kirito, breaking the Taboo Index to save them, Ronye continued studying at the academy, eventually joining the Human Guardian Army's supply unit as a volunteer following the death of the Axiom Church's leader, Quinella, to assist in the defence of the Human Empire against the Dark Territory's invasion army.
Appearance[]
Ronye is a petite girl with short, brown hair and blue eyes.[citation needed] As a first year trainee, she wore the Academy's grey uniform.[citation needed]
Background[]
Ronye is the daughter of a 6th class Noble Family. Like Tiese, she entered Sword Mastery Academy trying to raise her family status.
Ronye was one of the top twelve of her year, thus she became a valet. But unbeknownst to her, Kirito did not choose her. Instead, she was left along with Tiese after all other elite swordsmen selected their valets, as none of the noble elite swordsmen wanted to take them as their valets due to them belonging to the lowest Noble Class.
Chronology[]
Alicization Arc[]
Alicization Running[]
Ronye was introduced as Kirito's valet, who just finished cleaning his room and was waiting for him to return, so she could return to her room. Eugeo offered her to talk to the teachers to change her elite-swordsman, as he did not see Kirito as a good example, but she declined. Kirito then entered the room through the window and gave Tiese and her a bag with honey pies and dismissed them, telling them to share it with their roommates.
Alicization Turning[]
Ronye went to a picnic with Kirito, Eugeo and Tiese near the Academy, where, while eating, they informed Kirito and Eugeo about the problem their fellow valet Frenica Szeski was facing because of her mentor Humbert Zizek venting his anger on her.
Since Humbert did not stop mistreating his valet after Eugeo and Kirito's talk with him, Ronye and Tiese visited Raios Antinous and Humbert's room and asked them to stop bullying Frenica. Playing dumb, the nobles made the two girls fall into their trap by having the girls lose their composure and disrespect the upper class nobles, allowing them to apply their authority to punish nobles from lower classes and the punishment they decided to enforce was to rape the girls.
Eugeo and Kirito saved them, but broke the Taboo Index in the process. The next day she brought Kirito his sword and a bento before Integrity Knight Alice Synthesis Thirty took them to the Central Cathedral.
Alicization Invading[]
Having heard that Alice Synthesis Thirty had come to the Human Defence Army's camp with a black-haired young man, Ronye, along with Tiese, visited Alice to confirm their suspicion that the man was Kirito. When Alice informed the two of Eugeo's death and Kirito's state, the two girls broke down into tears. Alice comforted them and assigned the girls to care for Kirito while she left to participate in the war.

Having placed among the top twelve Primary Trainees of the Imperial Swordcraft Academy in North Centoria, Ronye was appointed as Kirito's page in the 4th Month of the 380th year of the Human Empire Calendar (HEC). Despite some initial difficulty in understanding the Elite Disciple's unique style of swordsmanship, the swordswoman earnestly followed the lessons he imparted to her over the next few weeks, which she applied while accompanying him, Eugeo, and Tiese on extracurricular lessons, wherein Academy students would help the Centoria city guard with exterminating wild beasts. Encouraged by their mentors' praise of their performance during their first extracurricular lesson, the girls invited the boys to a picnic to express their gratitude, which further strengthened the bonds between the valets and Elite Disciples.
While returning to the Swordcraft Academy from another extracurricular lesson in the 5th Month of 380 HEC, Ronye and Tiese felt close enough to Kirito and Eugeo to inform them of the abuse their fellow page Frenica was experiencing from Humbert. Although upset to discover Humbert's actions had been spurred by a perceived slight from Eugeo, the girl was comforted by Kirito's assurance he and Eugeo would confront the fourth-rank noble over his conduct, being particularly inspired by her mentor's declaration that people had an obligation to use their personal morals to decide whether or not any law was worth obeying.
