Satore was a craftsman, who in his youth set out to find a material he could carve into a great sword that could rival any other. He eventually came upon the Gigas Cedar, and became friends with the man in charge of cutting the tree at that time, Garitta. He attempted to climb to the very top of the tree and cut off a branch, so that he could carve a sword from it, but spent 3 days without even a cut left on the branch. He asked Garitta to inform him if the tree is ever cut down in his life time.
Many years later, Kirito and Eugeo came to Satore, and asked that he make a sword from the branch of the Gigas Cedar. In astonishment, Satore accepted, and told the duo that he will have a great sword for them ready in one year. Satore wasted many of his tools crafting the sword but after a full year, finally completes it. He told Kirito he can have it for free, if he has the strength to lift and swing it, which Kirito demonstrated for him. Satore then told Kirito to name it, and that he will use the sword as his shop's signature. Kirito said he'd think about it.
