Sword Art Online - Alicization Lycoris (ソードアート・オンライン アリシゼーション リコリス,Sōdo Āto Onrain Arishizēshon Rikorisu?) was a manga adaptation of the Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris console game, which is set in an alternative Alicization timeline. This manga was illustrated by Hirokawa Tomo, with its story supervised by Bandai Namco Entertainment.[1] Unlike the game itself, the story in the manga was primarily told from Eugeo's perspective.[2][3] Additionally, the manga glossed over the first chapter of the game's story that adapts the Human Empire subarc of the novels and anime, choosing instead to primarily focus on the game's original story route after the first five manga chapters.[4] The manga was originally published on DenPlay Comics, an appendix to the monthly Dengeki PlayStation Magazine, starting from DenPlay Comics Volume 37.[1][2] However, when the Dengeki PlayStation magazine was discontinued on March 28, 2020, the manga's serialisation was moved to a digital format on WEB DenPlay Comics[5], which outsources its chapter hosting to Comic Walker, NicoNico Douga and pixiv Comics. The manga was concluded on May 14, 2021 with its 16th chapter with an open-ending, as the manga was discontinued soon after it finished adapting the second chapter (the southern empire storyline) of the game's story.[6]
The manga was announced during the SAO Beater's Meeting fan meetup event on August 17, 2019.[25]
