The Night-Sky Blade (夜空の剣, Yozora no Ken^?) is the forty-fourth episode of the Sword Art Online Alicization anime adaptation. It aired on August 29, 2020.

Plot

Kirito decides to revert the dragons to their egg form in order to preserve their lives. He entrusts Alice to Asuna, who escorts her to the World End's Altar, while he faces Miller alone. Kirito's new abilities are no match for Miller's overwhelming power, until he unleashes the full potential of both his swords, creating a binding effect on Miller and a nocturnal scenery over the entire UW. Kirito receives the support of his friends, who send him their thoughts and feelings, and with Eugeo's spirit by his side, he delivers the final blow to Miller, who is forced to log out as the UW server reaches its maximum acceleration. Kirito realizes that he will be stuck in UW for two centuries, and breaks down in tears. However, he is astonished to see Asuna appear before him, having chosen to stay with him.
