  • I've noticed you've been adding the images I uploaded to the wiki to character galleries. The main reason why they weren't added to galleries yet was because I didn't have the time to sort through them to organise and add proper captions to them, since solely gathering and uploading all the images with proper sourcing takes a lot of time. If you wish to add images that someone else uploaded, it would be common courtesy to message the person in question to ensure they aren't planning to do it themselves (I myself were planning to go through those images nearing the weekend when I had more time for this) before taking it up yourself. An even bigger problem is that you're adding all the images randomly and not properly describing the images in captions, which means that someone will still have to go back and clean up after you. If you are going to take over someone else's job, at least don't do the job halfway.

    • Okay sorry I'll remember that for next time. I just wanted to help. I just notcied till now that I goof up on the Kirito one and was going to changed it till you beat me to it and sorry I'm use to adding Alice and Eugeo images cause their extra images aren't organized like Kirito is and I was planning asking in the future if I could organized them.

    • Alice's and Eugeo's galleries aren't organised because they only recently got an influx of images. No one bothered organising it when it was only a few images here and there, but the galleries have grown quite a bit in size since then. If you have the time and motivation to sort through the images, you're welcome to do so. Use Kirito's gallery as an example of the formatting.

Sorry if I'm intruding, but out of curiosity, what if the images in question were uploaded over a year ago/the original uploader is no longer available?

    • If the uploader isn't even available, then there's no issue with you making use of their uploads. The issue is when someone has recently uploaded an image and you start adding it everywhere without even bothering to contact the person who uploaded the image to make sure they weren't planning to add the images themselves. As you can see with my example, people may be planning to actually add the images later, either due to lack of time to do it immediately, or because they're bundling the images in a single edit to not spam the feed (or both).

    • Also, Brandsert, I've just looked through your Eugeo S32 image. I noticed that you didn't source or categorise the image. Images that aren't properly named, sourced, and categorised are not allowed on articles.

Also, I noticed that the image you uploaded was in non-standard resolution, which is usually a sign of poor image quality (because weird resolutions like that are usually taken from poor quality videos with an iPad or something). The images we use on the wiki should be uploaded from 1080p (or at the very least 720p) videos to ensure decent quality.

    • And how do I take a screenshot of the episode other than the part where the video has to be in the best quality?

    • Cause admittedly I used my iPhone to take the picture so either my iPhone ruined the quality of the image or I didn’t check to see if the the video was in high quality and is there a way to check the quality of the image BEFORE uploading it completely cause sometimes I have to click the image myself after it’s uploaded and see if it was in the right quality.

    • The standard way to get a high quality screenshot is to download a 1080p version of the episode and then use VLC or a similar program on a PC or laptop to take a screenshot. This will make your screenshot sized just like it is in the video itself, regardless of the resolution used on your device (i.e., without any extra stretching or shrinking that degrade the quality of the image).

    • Hm okay I’ll try that thanks.

    • and you didn't answer my other question: I asked how do you check if its the right size before you uplaoded cause I attempted to take a screenshot from my computer and tried that and I sourced it and i dont think it's the right pixel size and theres no way to see it after you upload it and I accidently upoaded one of them in the wrong format/poor qauilty and had to change it to the correct one. I feel like I'm till doin something wrong and it’s not saving the category part when I tried to categorize it.

    • If you're using an iPhone, you should really switch to an actual computer. Then you can just inspect the properties of the file before you upload it. A proper screenshot would be 1,920 × 1,080 pixels in resolution from an 1080p video file. The file you uploaded is 1,364 × 768 pixels, so either you weren't using VLC (or some other video player)'s built-in screenshot function, which means that your screenshot is only as big as your own screen, rather than as big as the video itself is set for, or you didn't download the episode before taking screenshots.

    • But I did use a computer I must of used the wrong type of way to screenshot the video and is there way I can personally sent you the image so you can check it see if it right so I don’t have to post it on here?

The file you uploaded to the wiki itself clearly says "1,364 × 768 pixels", so you definitely didn't use the built-in screenshot function and instead made a manual screenshot, which means the screenshot is only as big as your screen, not as big as the video itself is made.

    • Okay I got it and I have two questions and it’s gonna be the last thing I’m going to sent I really want you to answer both cause I your answering half of my post and I have to repeat myself again on what you didn’t answer.

      1. Is there anyway I can personally sent you the image? It’s just so you can check and see if I’m still not sure if it’s correctly cause I feel like I really want it to be check over before I go further to uploading the image.

      2. Bring up the Eugeo info box image again and I’m sorry for my attitude last time that was wrong of me to get mad that image didn’t hit your requirements for it to change it.

I want to say will that new Eugeo image I uploaded will it work as his new infobox pic? He’s in focus and everything while the background is sort of the same as the last one. While it’s not in HD quality yet once I get that fix. I feel that this one will work very well and it’s the best one I can find so far. But if you disagree that’s fine. I just wanted to share another idea.

    • 1. The best way to personally send me an image would be via Discord (https://discord.gg/PRUcDpM), a group chat app that practically all of us on the wiki are using to communicate with each other. That's where we usually hold discussions about images as well, since we can upload multiple images in a row there without clogging up the wiki itself + it's much easier to hold votes on the spot there. Alternatively, you could also use our testing wiki (https://sao-dev.fandom.com/wiki/Special:Images) to upload as many images as you wish and then link them on my wall or the forums. This latter method also allows you to test out whether you upload the file correctly, I guess.

      2. The new image you uploaded definitely looks better than the previous image. Though, as I've mentioned before, since images are a very subjective matter, we prefer to decide infobox images via community votes, in order to prevent back and forth changes. So, I can't decide on an image change on my own. If the community likes the image you proposed more than the current one we're using, we'll change it.
